These services include: Early Head Start for pregnant women and families with children, ages birth to three, Head Start for families with children, ages 3-5 and KinderStart Transition Program works with families who have kindergarten age children, who have completed Head Start.

WAGE RANGE “AA” – $31,705 – $42,987

WAGE RANGE “BA, BS, BES” – $36,849 – $49,055

Job Summary: The Float Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, enriched, developmentally appropriate environment for Head Start children and their families.

Essential Functions and Duties:

1.    Implements and maintains a Center Based program for Head Start children in accordance with the    Head Start Performance Standards and the Department of Human Services.

2.    Plans and implements appropriate curriculum to comply with Head Start Performance Standards.

3.    Models personal characteristics, which facilitate effective teacher performance and provides for continued individual and professional growth.

4.    Works cooperatively with Reach-Up Inc. staff and school district personnel to ensure a well-run Program that includes all program area facets.

5.    Maintains up-to-date files, which includes individual program plans.

6.    Conducts observations and enters accurate information into the assessment tool.

7.    Facilitates communication with families and staff by completing necessary documentation.

8.    Develops engaging parent and family activities to encourage involvement in the Head Start program. Facilitates required parent meetings, home visits, and conferences.

9.   Maintains a positive work environment by performing and communicating in a professional manner with children, families, co-workers and supervisors.

3.   Ability to work independently, communicate effectively, solve problems, and deal with emergencies

4.   Supervisory and organizational skills

5.   Ability to work effectively as a member of the Center Based team

6.   First Aid/CPR/CPI certification

7.   Demonstrates reliability in the identified assessment tool.

8.   Ability to furnish own means of transportation with 100,000/300,000 liability limits for bodily injury, underinsured motorist and uninsured motorist.

Physical Demands:

Job Title: Behavior Specialist

Job Summary: This is an 11 month position. The Behavior Specialist is responsible for direct and indirect mental health support services for Head Start and Early Head Start children and families.

Essential Functions and Duties:

Observes, identifies needs, and develops plans that address the mental health issues of the children and families served by Reach-Up Inc.

  • Meets with individuals/families to provide initial screening, behavioral support, and facilitate outside service referral.
  • Maintains regular, on-site classroom support for children, families, staff, etc.
  • Works with the Early Childhood Development and Health Services team to assist in development and implementation of behavior management plans for children that have been identified with behavioral problems.
  • Provides reflective consultation to teachers and assistants on a regular basis.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities as assigned. (e.g. Conscious Discipline, Circle of Security, Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health)
  • Submits timely, accurate reports about services provided for children and families.
  • Demonstrates confidentiality in all matters.
  • Maintains a safe workplace and fosters a culture of attention to health and safety. Understanding of Minnesota Maltreatment Law to keep all children safe from any type of harm.
